Wasatch Theatre: Greater Tuna

It must be hard to shed the dress when you’re a male actor and all your recent notoriety has come from your work in drag. Luckily for local stage phenom Charles Lynn Frost, the comedown from his celebrated turn as Sister Dottie S. Dixon should be made easier with his latest project, Wasatch Theatre Company’s Greater Tuna.

Joining Frost on stage is John Rowland, the two taking turns playing 20 of the 420 different Texans—several of them women—who populate the town of Tuna. In fact, the play is at its funniest when the two don dresses, be it as the mother of a teenager who disappointingly didn’t make the Tuna High cheerleading squad or as the grandmother of that aforementioned teenager who poisons neighborhood dogs for fun and hilarity. When she accidentally kills her husband’s prized hunting hound, mayhem ensues.
