Zucca Classes
At South Ogden’s Zucca Trattoria, owner/ chef Elio Scanu is hosting a series of culinary classes focused on the “Healthy Cuisines of the World.” In the series, classes will touch on different culinary traditions such as Japanese, Thai, European, Korean, Indian and African cuisines, in a hands-on cooking workshop format. Topics will include sushi-making, tagines, rustic Italian, modern Thai cuisine and others. Upcoming Zucca Trattoria cooking classes include “Italian Winter One-Pot Meals” on Jan. 23, and “Cheese & Wine 101” featuring Beehive Cheese Co. cheeses paired with wines from around the globe on Jan. 28. Meat-Free Mondays
In an effort to help “lower emissions and make the Earth’s atmosphere healthy for all,” Acme Burger Company has introduced Meat-Free Mondays, encouraging customers to eat less meat by eschewing meat one day per week. A burger joint that discourages the consumption of meat? Now, that’s different. But then, Acme’s slogan is “Anything but common.” Hardcore carnivores needn’t fret, however: In addition to meat-free dining options, on Meat-Free Mondays the regular, meaty Acme menu will still be available. Terminating Tipica
If you haven’t been to Tipica yet, better hurry. According to Matt Caputo, Tipica will close at the end of the month. Customers are looking for a “more casual evening dining experience,” said Caputo. “Starting in February, we will extend Caputo’s deli hours for dinner service. Sandwiches and salads will still be served on the dinner menu but we will also serve many rustic Italian hot dishes using provincial Italian ingredients from our award-winning market.”
