Bill Tibbits and members of the Crossroads Urban Center staged a short play at Liberty Park on Tuesday, June 12, titled Leezilla Attacks Anytown, Utah.

The play was designed to educate the Salt Lake community and protest Sens. Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch's sponsoring of a balanced-budget amendment to a bill that would increase the federal debt limit. If Republicans and Democrats remain at a stalemate over the debt ceiling, it could result in a a shutdown of the federal government—which would prevent individuals from receiving their August Social Security checks and from being able to use Medicare, Medicaid or food stamp benefits next month.
