There is much to mention about the pleasures of Zao: the spice-rubbed steak and grilled chicken; the organic sodas and fresh Vietnamese iced coffee; even the enticing housemade tangy dressing. Decisions are simple at the restaurant: Choose between a bowl, salad, three tacos or the banh mi sandwich; then, your choice of protein: seared steak, chicken, juicy meatballs or tofu. My personal favorite is the banh mi, a toasted French baguette stuffed with sliced cucumbers and carrots, spicy jalapeños, chili-lime aioli and the house hoisin. Aside from the downtown Salt Lake City location, Zao has now opened in Sandy and Murray with more locations still to come.
