Wild Stampede 5k Run for Wildlife
Saturday, Oct. 2
Sponsored by Hogle Zoo and the American Association of Zoo Keepers, the Wild Stampede run is a 5K where participants can break a sweat and help conservation efforts in Africa at the same time. Registration is $30, with proceeds helping the Action for Cheetahs in Kenya, a nonprofit project. Come out and burn some calories in solidarity with these fine wild felines on the other side of the world.

A Sentimental Journey: Honoring World War II Jewish Veterans
Sunday, Oct. 3
World War II may be a chapter in the history books for younger generations, but for five local Jewish veterans it was a defining struggle. Join the Jewish Family Services at this tribute dinner for these local heroes. The event will include a short documentary of their service and feature the music of the Tad Calcara New Deal Swing Band. Cost is $54, with all proceeds helping Jewish Family Services continue to support the city’s Jewish community.

Historic Landmark Commission
Wednesday, Oct. 6
This meeting will feature some unfinished business with the citywide Sustainability Development Code, including changing zoning laws to allow for accessory structures like greenhouses in urban settings. City planners will also discuss the best places to locate solar- and wind-energy collections systems in the Historic Overlay District. Show up and learn more about how green Salt Lake City can be.
