What Was the Point?

The cover story on people who had survived being shot was an interesting human-interest article [“Nine Lives,” April 29, City Weekly]. But what was the point of it—other than that nine Utah people from different walks of life were shot in random, different acts, and how they each coped and survived, in their own different way?

What is the lesson to be learned? Other than being shot, what is the unifying factor that would take this from being a “so what?” story to a good, if not great, story?
