This weekend, join a walk to raise funds to fight multiple sclerosis. Later in the week, get organized for May Day and celebrate this labor holiday by going on strike from work and school and joining a rally at the Capitol for workers’ rights. Later that evening, you won’t want to miss a Salt Lake City Council meeting that will be discussing mobile food trucks and funding for the Sugar House streetcar proposal.

MS Walk 2012
Saturday, April 28

Come out to the 2012 Multiple Sclerosis Walk and join hundreds of other Utahns striding to promote awareness of the debilitating disease and raise funds for a cure. You can walk as an individual, join a team, or simply donate to a walker from the sidelines of the event. The Gateway Grand Hall, 90 S. 400 West, 801-424-0112, April 28, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., or e-mail utahevents@nmss.org, CureMSUtah.org

May Day Rally
Tuesday, May 1

May Day! It’s both a distress call and a call to workers of the world to organize for their rights. This May Day, a solidarity action from groups such as Occupy SLC, the Revolutionary Students Union, United for Social Justice and the Industrial Workers of the World are calling on people to go on strike from school and their jobs and join a march to the Capitol for a rally to commemorate International Workers’ Day. Salt Lake City & County Building, 451 S. State, May 1, 4 p.m., OccupySLC.org

Salt Lake City Council
Tuesday, May 1

Everyone likes a food truck, except when they poach customers from brick & mortar restaurants’ turf. That’s why the city council is looking for input on an ordinance to regulate the permitting and approval of mobile food businesses. Also up for a hearing is another proposition on wheels: a budget amendment to provide $6.8 million to the Sugar House Greenway Project, which includes plans for a streetcar and improvements to Parley’s Trail. Salt Lake City & County Building, 451 S. State, 801-535-7600, May 1, 7 p.m., Council.SLCGov.com
