V-day in Paris

Well, maybe you can’t go to Paris for Valentine’s Day, but you could dine at Paris Bistro. Eric DeBonis and his Paris Bistro crew are taking reservations for Valentine’s Day, which will feature a “magnifique” five-course menu priced at $69.95 per person plus tax and a service charge (20 percent), with optional wine pairings also available, priced separately. The “La Vie En Rose” V-Day menu features dishes like Thaispiced lump King crab cake; lobster bisque with tarragon-Cognac cream; pan-seared filet of Prime Black Angus beef Oscar with Alaskan King crab; lavender honey-glazed rotisserie organic chicken; and warm molten chocolate cake with orange blossom gelato. For the complete Valentine’s Day menu, visit The Paris’ Website at TheParis.net. The Paris is located at 1500 E. 1500 South, phone 801-486-5585.

The cost of the dinner is $49 and the optional wine pairing is $25. The address is 2985 E. 6580 South, and to make reservations phone 801-947-0542 or purchase seats online at GInc.com.

Quote of the week: Am I alone in thinking it odd that a people ingenious enough to invent paper, gunpowder, kites and any number of other useful objects, and who have a noble history extending back 3,000 years, haven’t yet worked out that a pair of knitting needles is no way to capture food? —Bill Bryson
