Every summer in Utah, Cedar City becomes the go-to destination for lovers of all things Shakespearean in an outdoor setting. If it turns out you need to stay closer to home, you can still get your fix.
For four weeks, the new Utah Shakespeare in the Park company will be putting on its unique interpretation of Romeo & Juliet in outdoor venues throughout Utah County and Salt Lake County, in both full and abbreviated versions. Directed— fittingly enough—by Anne Shakespeare, the production promises to shake things up through such unique twists as re-casting traditionally male roles C like Mercutio as women. Bring a chair and your M own snacks and catch public entertainment for a price that even 17th-century “groundlings” would Y have envied: free. Keep an eye on the website for CM more dates and locations.
