It’s time for a checkup—a complete physical of the health of the planet, its people and communities and democracy all around you. If any of the above don’t receive a clean bill of health, it could be a bad diagnosis for us all. This week, check out the Utah Global Health Conference and learn about volunteer health-service projects. Swing by the Salt Lake Valley Health Department’s Earth Day celebration for green workshops. Later in the week, don’t miss the Legislature’s first Redistricting Committee to watch how voting districts will be shaped for future elections.

Redistricting Committee
Monday, April 25

If you’re worried that the legislative committee designated with redrawing voting district maps for the next 10 years might color outside ethical lines, then show up and take part in the process. This committee meeting will introduce the Legislature’s redistricting principles, offer a demonstration of redistricting software to be used and include a public-comment period. Take action and don’t let your vote get brushed off the map.
