Sure, Cedar City’s Utah Shakespearean Festival gets all the notoriety as the place to go for summer theater. But shining in the shadow cast by that Tony Award-winning festival is a much smaller gem that packs a theatrical punch—Utah Festival Opera.
This five-week festival is located in the cool, luscious environs of Logan in Cache Valley. Each year, the Utah Festival Opera includes four revolving productions of various musical theater genres (including both opera and Broadway stylings) so that visitors can stay in Logan and have an opportunity to catch each show within a three-day window. This year’s line-up includes The Mikado, Camelot, Carmen and the dual ticket of Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci. Utah Festival Opera’s season also includes a full schedule of other concerts, both orchestral and vocal, as well as various seminars, pre-performance discussions, theater tours and gala dinners.
