Ah, the life of an actor. You get the opportunity to inhabit other people, live other lives and speak some of the most amazing lines ever committed to paper. But, even professional actors can find themselves wondering if they’ll ever have the chance to play that favorite part, or perform that favorite soliloquy, or sing that favorite song. Utah Contemporary Theatre’s annual fundraiser, The Hope Chest, gives several talented local actors the chance to take the stage and cast themselves in the role of their dreams. Colleen Baum and Jason Tatom join forces for a scene from The Cripple of Inishman; Jeanette Puhich takes on Guys and Dolls; Kurt Proctor essays Our Town. And, they’ll be joined by colleagues including Joe Welsch, Arika Schockmel, Aaron Swenson, Christopher Glade and Dee Macaluso.

Your $50 ticket gets you the performance, food and drink—and a chance to see stage dreams come true.

The Hope Chest @ Rose Wagner Center, 138 W. 300 South, 801-355-2787, Thursday, Aug. 20, 7 p.m. UtahContemporaryTheatre.org
