The story is so compelling that it has seen life as a vintage TV drama, a theatrical film and a stage play. It has even been re-made in the Russian language. Something about Reginald Rose’s Twelve Angry Men continues to resonate with audiences around the world.

Pioneer Theatre Company brings its spin on the classic tale to the local stage, exploring the dynamics in a jury deliberation room. Every one of the jurors seems to think it’s obvious that the young accused man is guilty—all except one, who sees a few holes in the prosecution’s logic. As the lone holdout makes his case, he begins to probe the prejudices and preconceptions that inform the jurors’ attitudes, and in so doing exposes the way that a verdict is so often about much more than the evidence. Broadway veterans Alan Campbell, Bob Ari and Lou Liberatore are among the talented cast members joining local stalwarts Paul Kiernan and Tobin Atkinson to explore how easy it is for justice to become injustice.

Twelve Angry Men @ Pioneer Theatre Company, 300 S. 1400 East, 801-581-6961, Feb. 12-27. PioneerTheatre.org
