The Woodshed
The Woodshed may be the only club in town besides the Old Yellow Stone Garage or Cotton Bottom that sounds much worse than it is. It’s got real wood touches and even some leatherlike seats. Not to mention the classy booze behind the bar. All that—plus some exciting theme nights every week—make it one of the better clubs to relax in. Live, local music by acts like Cub Country and the Red Bennies every Friday and Saturday make it even better. “Karaoke That Doesn’t Suck” Tuesdays and Sundays is also a swell sign of fun times, and Thursday reggae nights really round out the action. If you have not ’shedded yet, cruise out to the best name-is-worse-than-reality venue in the city (excluding The Rail). The Woodshed is located at 60 E. 800 South.

Speaking of the Cotton Bottom
Known for its famous garlic burgers, this joint is also a perfect place to take in the changing fall leaves on the outdoor patio before the ski season starts to swing. Relaxing at the base of the canyons doesn’t get more awesome than chilling with a pitcher of beer and finding some bottoms of the cotton variety to squeeze—and we’re assuming the name refers to the cotton plant? Go find out for yourself. The Cotton Bottom is located at 2820 E. 6200 South.

As Long As You’re There: Canyon Wallowing
Hog Wallow is another well-known bar at the base of the canyons where many a ski trip ends with revelry and good times. It is also recognized as having a great patio. Unless you’re on the top of the mountain at one of Utah’s several amazing resort bars, it doesn’t get closer to the high life than the Hog Wallow, located at 3200 Big Cottonwood Canyon Road.
