City Weekly asked Matt Torres of The Coffee Connection if he thought the move would give public community radio a shot in the arm or does it just amounts to a corporate sell-out:

“I don’t think it’s necessarily selling out. I’ve only been listening to KRCL for a little while, and I like the programming, but I think [hiring professional DJs] will probably just help them out in the long run. Because it will probably help get new listeners who aren’t used to public radio.”
