"The Last 5 Years"—The Award-Winning Jason Robert Brown Musical - There are two sides to every love story. Jamie Wellerstein is a young, talented up-and-coming Jewish novelist who falls in love with Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress and shiksa goddess. “The Last 5 Years” tells the story of Jamie and Cathy, two New Yorkers who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. An emotionally powerful and intimate musical by the Tony award-winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown, "The Last 5 Years" is a story told nearly entirely through songs using an intercutting timeline device. All of Cathy’s songs begin at the end of their marriage and move backwards in time to the beginning of their love affair. Jamie’s songs start at the beginning of their affair and move forward to the end of their marriage. They meet in the center when Jamie proposes. Utah Repertory Theater Company.
