For more than 30 years, scoring $22 billion in revenue and perhaps even more pop-culture references, the Star Wars saga has delighted audiences and inspired modern technology. In short: Star Wars is just awesome.
Every few years, a new byproduct of the original films is created to satiate the millions of fans who still can’t get enough. Star Wars: In Concert is that new treat, as a three-story LED screen presents footage from all six movies accompanied by a live choir and orchestra performing John Williams’ brilliant scores. As if that weren’t enough, the evening also features an exhibition of costumes, props and production artwork. That’s right—the only thing separating you from Han Solo’s blaster pistol could be a thin wall of Plexiglass.
Seeing Star Wars on a giant screen can sometimes be the catalyst that converts a nonchalant viewer into an obsessed fan. So, if your girlfriend looks at you strangely for referencing Hoth in the dead of winter, or your friends think that your Darth Vader action figures are too childish, you might want to bring them with you.
When Star Wars comes to town the question isn’t should you go or not; it’s more about what you should wear. Considering all the nerds in attendance, the difficult decision lies in whether you should dress up in your Darth Maul costume or just a shirt that says “I was digested for 1,000 years in the Sarlacc Pit and all I got was this crappy T-shirt”.
