City Weekly’s first downtown office was in the Shubrick building, along with Port O’ Call. Now that she’s gone, what’s your favorite Port memory?

n

n

Victor Serrano: My last and only Port memory was City Weekly’s 2006 Christmas Party! It was a blast!

n

Jamie Gadette: Pretty much every City Weekly function, especially the Wells Fargo bomb-threat cocktail hour.

n

Nick Clark: The Port was the first bar I legally entered. I got drunk the day after my 21st birthday and puked Hefeweisen on some guy’s lawn in the Avenues. Ah, memories.

n

Derek Jones: I had been working at City Weekly a little more than a month when we had our Best of Utah staff party. After multiple toasts of Patrón, I started getting that really “touchy-feely” kind of a buzz and apparently had John Saltas in my sights. Let’s just say he was probably wondering why a stranger wandered into the bar and wouldn’t stop hugging him.

n

Jeff Reese: Port was actually the first place I went when I was old enough to get into a bar. My 21st birthday was awesome! Though I haven’t really gone there much recently, I will definitely mourn its death.

n

Paula Saltas: I will miss all our City Weekly Christmas parties there, and the Patrón shots, of course, that Rizzi got us all addicted to.

n

Jerre Wroble: I will miss e-mailing Jannette Knowley to set up a meal function and seeing her sign off with “Angels on Your Day.” tttt
