Saint Patrick’s Day must be the greatest immigrant-influenced U.S. holiday of all—sorry Cinco de Mayo fans. There’s no better time for everybody to order Guinness, as if it’s somehow our inherited birthright for a day. The majority of people celebrating the St. Patrick’s Day Parade party (Siamsa) at the Greek Orthodox Church downtown probably weren’t Irish, but you couldn’t tell it from all the green they were sporting. Gents in kilts, ladies in traditional Irish garb and kids with shamrocks on their faces enjoyed the festive traditional music and dancing. Beer, too!
