The term “choral music” usually brings to mind composers like Handel and Mozart, but the Salt Lake Choral Artists are adding the names of late-20th century composers John, Paul, George and Ringo with matinee and evening performances of Beatlemania.
Besides performing songs from the voluminous catalog of Lennon and McCartney, the community choir, consisting of three different groups—a concert choir of 150, a smaller chamber choir and a women’s choir—will also give renditions of tunes by artists who either influenced the “Fab Four” or were influenced by them—so, pretty much everybody who has attempted to write a pop or rock song since 1967. The 2010 theme for Salt Lake Choral Artists, directed by Brady Allred, is “Imagine”—which fits nicely with the post-Beatles Lennon song from 1971.
Joining
the Salt Lake Choral Artists for both concerts will be Get Back, a
Beatles cover band, and vocal ensemble T Minus 5.
