It can sometimes be excruciatingly difficult to be a girl. And parents, too, can find it devastating when it seems as though they can’t help. It’s been 16 years since Reviving Ophelia broke ground and shone its light on to the sometimes-dark world of female adolescence. And, in the same vein, Rosalind Wiseman offers expert advice in her Girl World tour, targeted at moms and daughters, ages 8-14.

Wiseman is an internationally recognized expert on teens and parenting, and her presentation is empathetic, fun and engaging—showing there are healthy ways to cope with friendship and confidence issues. She’s the author of New York Times best-seller Queen Bees and Wannabes—which inspired Tina Fey’s movie Mean Girls—and 2010’s young-adult novel Boys, Girls and Other Hazardous Materials. A $40 mother-daughter combo includes two tickets, Wiseman’s two books—moms get the former, daughters the latter—and product samples. Single tickets may also be purchased.

Rosalind Wiseman @ Rowland Hall St. Mark’s Larimer Auditorium, 843 S. Lincoln Street (950 East), 801-484-9100, Sept. 22, 7 p.m., $40 combo, $20 single. KingsEnglish.com
