Pioneer Park has proven to be a successful spot for rocking this summer, serving as the fill-in for the Twilight Concert Series during the Gallivan Center renovation. And since everyone is having so much fun on Thursdays, stretching the musical party in the park to another night just feels right.
The
Salt Lake City Film Center and Rio Tinto this week launch a four-week
series of “rock docs”: concert films and documentaries featuring a wide
range of musical styles. Tonight, the series kicks off with The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights, a
chronicle of the duo’s innovative 2007 tour of Canada. And before the
film at dusk, Ogden band Fox Van Cleef will perform live at 8 p.m. to
provide a real concert vibe. Come back in subsequent weeks, as the
series continues with Soul Power, Strange Powers: Stephin Merritt and the Magnetic Fields and Heavy Metal in Baghdad.
Pioneer Park Rock Docs: The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights @ Pioneer Park, 300 S. 300 West, July 30, dusk. Pre-movie performance by Fox Van Cleef, 8 p.m. SLCFilmCenter.org
