A good Mormon girl like Phyllis Barber was raised to think of marriage as “for time and all eternity.” When it didn’t turn out that way, a world can fall apart.

Barber’s new memoir, Raw Edges, chronicles the fallout after Barber and her husband of more than 30 years were confronted with the realities of their respective shifting ideas about religion and infidelities that shook their foundations. The author describes it as a “comingof-middle-age” story, one that addresses the shattering reality of suddenly finding yourself in a life completely different from the one you expected and from the one your culture expects from you. Join the author as she discusses a journey through guilt and depression, emerging from that life into a new reality.
