There are a number of art shows at local galleries during the holiday season, but then there’s the Phillips Gallery’s holiday show. Works from the gallery’s entire roster, a veritable who’s who of local artists, in the classically festive décor of the site, makes for a perfect stop in between harried holiday errands.
Seventy-five Hipstamatic prints are also on display for the holidays: digital prints submitted by members of the community produced with the “Hipstamatic” iPhone app. The effects obtained range from the subtle to the surreal.
This year, the Evolutionary Healthcare clinic across the street on 200 South is acting as an extension of Phillips, with its showing of Dave Hall paintings. Hall’s exhibit of pensive, atmospheric landscapes earlier this year paired with poems by local writer Joel Long mounted alongside made for one of the most thought-provoking shows of the season.
