Bring a little love to Liberty Park

This week, you can be a pal to your neighborhood park by volunteering to help maintain Salt Lake City’s Liberty Park. Later, check out the Redwood Road Farm, a new collaborative effort of nonprofits and local government to provide work to Salt Lake County’s refugee population. You can also find out more about other refugee services in Salt Lake City by celebrating Burundi’s Independence Day and learn about the African country’s unique history and culture.

Liberty Park Improvement
Saturday, June 30
Roughly 50 volunteers are needed to bring a little love to Liberty Park this summer. Bring your sense of civic duty, some work gloves, water and sunscreen and help spruce up the park. Volunteers are needed to maintain the jogging path and sweep pinecones out of the driving circle. Liberty Park, 600 E. 900 South, June 30, 8-11 a.m., RSVP with Savannah Wake, 801-535-6202 or savannah.wake@slcgov.com

Redwood Road Farm Tour
Saturday, June 30
New Roots Utah is a program made up of longtime refugee advocates of the International Rescue Committee. The group has teamed up with Salt Lake County and the Utah Refugee Coalition to create a new community garden that will help refugees to work, make friends, learn new skills and even sell produce and earn income from the farm. Burundi Independence Day
Saturday, June 30
As Utah’s Refugee month winds down, celebrate the diversity Salt Lake City’s refugee community by attending a celebration dinner and party put on by the Burundi Community of Utah and refugee advocates of the International Rescue Committee. Enjoy traditional music and learn more about Burundi and how you can get involved with refugee assistance efforts. Horizonte Instruction & Training Center, 1234 S.
