Park City Traditional Independence Day Celebration

Every six or seven years, when Independence Day happens to fall on the Sabbath, cities throughout the state of Utah opt to celebrate either a day early, or a day late. So, if you actually want to see your fireworks and wave your flags on July 4, you’ll need to head into the mountains.

Park City begins the day of activities with the traditional City Park pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., providing the requisite carbo-loading for the Park City Ski Team 5K Fun Run. Games, food, music and vendors fill City Park from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., but you might want to consider taking a break to enjoy the parade on Historic Main Street at 11 a.m., featuring more than 70 floats. The Park Silly Sunday Market will be taking place Saturday, July 3, to make way for the parade.

When dusk hits, trek over to Park City Mountain Resort to enjoy the fireworks display. Your Sunday, July 4th isn’t a patriotic black hole anymore.
