Karaoke With Numbnuts: NYE Big Willie Style
Some
of us may not want to admit it, but Christmas is right around the
corner. Yet the most exciting part of the Christmas season ending isn’t a
cessation of annoying jingles, it’s the welcoming of the true
party-goer’s holiday: New Year’s Eve. More than a reason for another
Garry Marshall crapfest, it’s also a time for karaoke at Willie’s (1716
S. Main) with DJ Numbnuts. The bar usually hosts what one employee
described as “punk-rock, kind-of-rock and random,” karaoke on Friday and
Saturday. But NYE will be special because of the best (named) DJ in the
valley
Brewvies Gets in the Spirit
We don’t usually suggest foregoing dancing and drinks at clubs for flicks and drinks at bars, but we must this time. The man behind Club Matters is a child of the ’80s, and one of the best things that decade brought the world is Gremlins. For some, it seems that we can’t properly embrace the holiday season without watching this classic (it takes place during Xmas, remember?). Brewvies Cinema Pub (677 S. 200 West) will host a free screening Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10 p.m. As usual with free Brewvies movies, please be super nice to the bar staff and tip ’em to say thanks.
Luck of the Valley: The Leprechaun Inn
When is being pseudo-Irish not “in”? People love Guinness, green and good times with redheads year-round. Go celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day any time at one of Utah’s oldest neighborhood bars; located in Murray, The Leprechaun Inn (4700 S. 900 East) was established way back in 1980. This venue also features pool and darts, NHL and NFL packages on 15 HD screens and free wireless Internet, to boot!
