Every August, we hear talk about the necessity of having used nuclear bombs on nonmilitary targets Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There is always an equal and opposite reaction to those opposing this event.
The jingoist tells us millions of lives were saved. Others, including President Dwight D. Eisenhower, opposed the politics behind the nuking and deemed the carnage unnecessary.
There are certain universal ethical and moral principles that must always be adhered to. The wanton slaughter of innocent women, children, babies and the elderly, for any reason, should never have happened, and steps should be taken so that it never happens again.
