How did you celebrate your birthday on your mission?
My birthday was two weeks into my mission, and my companion and I happened to be passing a Catholic church where a wedding was taking place. She dragged me to the church, ostensibly to teach, but also to get cake. We got invited to the celebration and had a great feast. I got my cake and my birthday song. When it was time to go, we were told there were no buses. So, we walked. It took two and a half hours before we saw the city market. Once we got to the market, a man started following me. I walked faster and faster. Finally my companion screamed, “Run, sister, run!” I ran. Finally, I turned to confront him, fearful he would strike me. Instead, he just tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Hello,” then left. My companion laughed so hard she wet her pants right there in the market.
