This week, Salt Lake City residents can schedule time to meet personally with Mayor Ralph Becker and chew the municipal fat. Later, grill Attorney General Sean Reyes about how he’s airing out the office after the stink of ethics scandals. The Salt Lake City Council will later discuss everything from lowering development impact fees to requiring that restaurant drive-thru windows be accessible to all, whether in a car, on foot or on a bicycle.
Meet the Mayor
April 17-23
Salt Lake City residents can now schedule some sit-down time with Mayor Becker. Ten-minute blocks are available between 4 and 6 p.m on April 23. Appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis, and staff will ask what topic you’ll want to talk about—so if you just want to talk about Game of Thrones, there’s a possibility your appointment might not be prioritized over those of folks wanting to talk general city issues.

Restoring Public Trust in the Attorney General’s Office
Friday, April 18
Attorney General Sean Reyes was appointed in December to head the Utah Attorney General’s office, upon which, special investigators say, previous AG John Swallow had hung a “for sale” sign by courting money from special interests. Reyes will discuss what he’s doing to right the ship at this free and open public forum, which includes free pizza.

Salt Lake City Council
Tuesday, April 22
The council is looking for feedback on a number of proposals, such as temporarily lowering impact fees for developers and requiring that new drive-thru windows accommodate not just motorists, but folks on foot and bikes who are looking for late-night grub. The council will also consider allowing individual businesses in Sugar House to have projecting signs (hung at a perpendicular angle to the building) on their storefronts. It’s your city; come listen in and speak up.
