As we all continue to persevere through difficult economic times, many signs are pointing to better days ahead. Unprecedented investment in our city has not only fundamentally enhanced an already-vibrant core but also drawn dozens of new ventures to downtown and surrounding areas. Salt Lake City’s one-of-a-kind combination of metropolitan energy, cultural activities and world-class, accessible recreational opportunities has kept us in the forefront of any conversation about the best places to live in the West.
Here at City Hall, we’ve continued to reflect the priorities of our residents and have completed an exhaustive evaluation of municipal code, moving forward with an essential update. Proposed changes will create new opportunities to advance our sustainability goals—urban agriculture, alternative energy, walkability and transit-oriented development are integral to our plans as the city continues to grow and prosper. The diversity and vitality of our unique neighborhoods reflect our strength and character as a great American city; new transit and development projects will keep our communities vital.
