Charles Frost’s Sister Dottie S. Dixon isn’t the only Salt Lake City theater diva making a return visit to the local stage this fall. It just took Anne Cullimore Decker a little bit longer than six months to reprise her role as Maria Callas in Master Class.

It was 1998 when Salt Lake Acting Company last presented Terrence McNally’s play, which finds the legendary soprano semi-retired from performing and left to teach classes at New York City’s Juilliard School. David Mong also returns as director for a story that, he says, “is a play about the value of art. As the economy struggles and everybody tightens up, once again art is the ‘poor cousin.’”

Join the incomparable Decker as she plays out Callas’ reflections on the ups and downs of her career and personal life. It would be a shame to wait another decade.

Master Class @ Salt Lake Acting Company, 168 W. 500 North, 801-363-7522, Oct. 16–Nov. 8. SaltLakeActingCompany.org
