Kristauf’s: Education &
New Location
The University of Utah used to host a continuing-
education course in martinis at Kristauf’s Martini Bar downtown (16 W. Market St.). Though the U doesn’t offer the course anymore, Kristauf’s still takes all comers and all those interested in answering the eternal question “What is vermouth?” For less intellectual delights, indulge Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with DJs Chaseone2 and James Ramirez. Or, if you’re further south, visit their new location at 6405 S. 3000 East.
DJ Babu: Ultra Saturdays
One of Club Matters’ favorite DJs is coming back to Salt Lake City and his name is Babu—Dilated Peoples’ DJ Babu to be exact. DJ Juggy has done it again, landing big talent in this little pond for his Ultra Saturdays at The Hotel (155 W. 200 South) this weekend after Babu plays with Atmosphere at The Complex.
Emo Party: Dance-ified
Every Thursday, Dance Evolution descends on one of downtown’s more popular bars and creates a scene at Metro Bar (540 W. 200 South). This Thursday, the action gets a little more sad and prone to over-reflection for the night’s “Emo Party.” It’s described as “every other Thursday night,” but with tons of “fun sh!t” along the way. There are drinking games for the night, in which one must take a shot every time someone says “emo,” or “you can cry about it.” Also, there will be a photo booth that will make everyone look “uber sad” (we’re guessing black and white tones and maybe some eyeliner effect.)
Superstar Summer At Jam
Every Wednesday night, one of the better gay bars in the state, Jam (751 N. 300 West), gets super with Superstar Summer Karaoke! Hookah on the patio, zero cover charges and pool/beer pong make it more than just a singing destination, but one for all-around socializing. Also, all well drinks are just five bones every day.
