Shaken Libations: Kristauf’s gets Creative
With the recent closure of its sister store in Park City, the downtown location of Kristauf’s Martini Bar is a wholly unique destination. The different martinis served there have numbered in the hundreds over the years as the menu has changed. Manager Joshua Edwards says he remembers all—OK, most—of the many offerings. Recently, in a quest to develop a robust drink (“none of that fruity shit,” he says), he added his own creation to the list: The New York Times Martini. Edwards had just returned from New York when the recipe hit. The result is a rather bracing cocktail with a nice dose of scotch.

Kristauf’s New York Times Martini

• 1 oz. Glenlivet 12-year
• 1/4 oz. orange brandy
• dash bitters
• soda • fresh lemon
• garnish with lemon twist Shake and enjoy in a chilled martini glass.

Get The Delorian
Every Thursday at Area 51, Generation Y puts Generation X to shame as its young members celebrate the ’80s with DJ Jeremiah. Who cares if they’re too young to recall the decade of greed? Their moves sure do justice to bounciest Reagan Era music. Area 51 offers 18-and-up dancing—as well as areas for adult drinks and dance catering to the older set. Other parties include Flirt Tuesdays and Wednesday’s Generation X—both hosted by DJ Radar. Friday features Dungeon in the basement with DJ Viking and Saturdays pop with “In the Mix”
