HEAL Utah Fall Party

Bob Dixson, the mayor of one the country’s most eco-friendly communities, will speak to HEAL Utah supporters during a fund-raising dinner and party tonight. The Kansas town, named—no joke—Greensburg, was essentially leveled by a 2007 tornado. In the aftermath, town planners resurrected Greensburg with wind turbines, sustainable homes and energy-efficient buildings.

Broken Borders

If you want to see how to argue about immigration without getting called a racist or a bleeding heart, take some tips from the U of U debate team. It is hosting an immigration debate that includes Latino activist Tony Yapias; Rep. Mike Noel, R-Kanab; and Dee Rowland, director of the Peace & Justice Commission for the Utah Catholic Diocese.

South Valley Sanctuary Benefit Concert
Friday, Nov. 20
The West Jordan-based South Valley Sanctuary, which helps men, women and children who have been impacted by domestic violence, is looking for community help for their mission. Thus, they will be hosting a performance by recording artist Hilary Weeks at La Caille restaurant that also comes with dinner. The ticket price will set you back $100, and all proceeds will go a long way to helping out those suffering in Utah because of family violence.
