Some parts of the Harlem Globetrotters tour never change. Those who show up for either the afternoon or evening, er, “games” at EnergySolutions Arena on Presidents’ Day will see guys with nicknames like “Bingo” and “Slingshot” passing the ball around the “Magic Circle” while a whistling version of “Sweet Georgia Brown” plays. Buckets of “water” (confetti) are also likely to be thrown. Spectators can also count on the Globies posting two more victories over the hapless Washington Generals, who have lost over 13,000 straight games in the rivalry. Don’t be like Krusty the Clown, who bet on the Generals because “I thought they were due!”
However, the Trotters are also innovators, and for their current tour they’re offering “4 Times the Fun” with a 4-point shot from a designated spot 35 feet from the basket. Imagine how many points Jimmer Fredette could rack up from there! Curiously, a quick scan of the Harlem roster shows no BYU alums.
