Haiti Relief Art Show

FRIDAY 2.12

The earthquake in Haiti has shown, if little else positive, that people can still be counted on to unite their efforts to assist victims of a disaster. Local artists are donating paintings and photographs to one of these efforts at the relatively new Hive Gallery. A work by the likes of noted portrait lenspeople Cat Palmer or Jake Garn is a great find, as well as a way to donate to humanitarian relief. Oils by Holly Mae Pendergast contain an uncommon sensitivity to their subject matter.

The Hive is buzzing with artistic energy directed toward a positive purpose. Unlike some benefit events, 100 percent of the proceeds from art sales is going to the American Red Cross for the Haiti fund, the gallery taking nothing for overhead—and that goes for the $2 entrance fee, as well. Musicians performing for the event include Ben Robie, Alexander Grim, Chaz Prymek and Kodiak Poulsen.

Haiti Relief Art Show @ Hive Gallery, Trolley Square, 600 S. 700 East, Feb. 12-13.
