Are you experiencing the summer blahs every year just after the usual firework celebrations are extinguished? Sure, July has come to a close, but August—in all its summer-ending glory—has just arrived.

Have no fear; the city of Kearns is here to help pick up the pieces and keep your summer fun moseying along with its fourth annual incarnation of the Fire, Water & Ice Festival at the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center. Just to refresh your memory, the KOPFC is home to the world’s fastest ice, the Utah Olympic Oval Ice Skating Rink.

At the Fire, Water & Ice Festival you can skate on that record-breaking ice sheet. You also can join a huge pool party (we’re talking about six pools—four indoor, two out—augmented by a giant splash park with a 1,040-gallon dumping bucket) and then dry out while picnicking and waiting to witness one of the summer’s last-blast fireworks displays. As if that weren’t enough, there will also be daylong live music (Two & a Half White Guys and Beach Boys and Beatles tribute bands Endless Summer and The Salamanders), a “Teen Only Zone,” a Kid’s Art Shack, the Jack Daniel’s barbecue challenge, a car show and rides and attractions galore. You can even get your picture taken with Poison Ivy and the Batmobile.

Seriously, what says summer more than the Batmobile? Oh yeah—and Olympic Ice?

Fire, Water & Ice Festival @ Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center, 5624 S. 4800 West, Kearns, 801-966-5555, Aug. 7, noon-9:45 p.m., $3-$5. KOPFC.com
