Fame: The Musical

Maybe it’s because the High School Musical phenomenon made the idea of all-singin’, all-dancin’ young people hip again, but suddenly a 1980s musical about New York’s High School for the Performing Arts is all the rage. This fall, a movie remake hits theater screens. And this month, the stage musical adaptation hits Park City.

The Egyptian Theatre Company’s new Family Theatre Company sets sail with Fame: The Musical. Lyricist Jacques Levy and composer Steven Margoshes created a brand-new collection of songs for the stage version, which still follows young people following their dreams of becoming dancers, actors, musicians and the like. Think of it as A Chorus Line Junior.

And the young cast members of this new company are chasing their own dreams (disclaimer: one of them is the progeny of our editor, Jerre Wroble). You can support them—and ETC’s new enterprise— as they chase their own fame.

Fame: The Musical @ Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main St., Park City, 435-649-9371, Aug. 14–23. EgyptianTheatrecCompany.org
