In Sharon Brown’s letter [“Barbecue Where?” June 13, City Weekly], she complains that R&R Barbeque ran out of food the night she dined there. Being “astounded,” she went on to criticize the eating establishment as deficient business planners.

That is one way of looking at it. From another angle, might the rarity of that experience highlight how fortunate we are to live in a country where food is abundant? What Sharon experienced is what millions around the world experience every night, except that Shannon likely enjoyed a delicious meal later, like every night, despite the minor inconvenience of a moment otherwise worthy of humility and gratitude.

That would be an alternative response to publicly slamming the restaurant owners who are working hard to carve out a living to put food on the table for their family.
