Karen Cakebread, formerly of Cakebread Cellars and now handling the wine program and wine dinners at Park City’s Sky Lodge, will be hosting two upcoming vintner dinners of interest. The first takes place July 18 and features Oakville Ranch Vineyard’s general manager, Paula Kornell. Each month, Sky Lodge executive chef Scott Boberek, fin chef Briar Handley, executive pastry chef Nova Bevier and their teams will create a unique five-course dinner for guests, geared to pair with wines from the visiting vintners. On Aug. 28, Cakebread will welcome Judd and Holly Finkelstein of Judd’s Hill Winery for The Sky Lodge’s August vintner dinner. The cost for the vintner dinners is $125 per person, including wine, food, tax and gratuity. Guests attending the vintner dinners are eligible for special reduced rates at The Sky Lodge, beginning at $250 for a one-bedroom suit. And trust me, these suites are sweet! For more information and to make reservations for vintner dinners at The Sky Lodge, phone 435-658-2500 (TheSkyLodge.com).

This Saturday, July 19, The Sundance Resort 2008 Tree Room Author Series features Bill and Cheryl Alters Jamison, authors of Around the World in 80 Dinners: The Ultimate Culinary Adventure. This particular author series event will take place at Zoom Restaurant in Park City, beginning at noon. The authors of more than a dozen cookbooks, Bill and Cheryl will recount their experiences dining at the tables of “the best French chef still unknown in America,” as well as relishing the street foods of Brazil, Thailand and Singapore, and even how they barbecued a whole hog at Memphis In May. Tickets for this event are $95 per person and include the lecture, discussion, a signed copy of the authors’ new book, brunch at Zoom and gratuity. Alcohol is not included; advance reservations are required and can be made by phoning Zoom restaurant at 435-649-9108.
