How has Matthew Ivan Bennett found time to eat and sleep? Over the course of a Plan-B Theatre Company season devoted to his work, the playwright has provided a radio-play adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the text for the sold-out run of Block 8 in the winter, and his latest contribution, the Leonardo da Vinci “biography” Di Esperienza.

Is it possible that even the person who has come to define the expression “Renaissance man” had doubts about the value of his work? Bennett and director Jerry Rapier explore that notion as the artist confronts the subjects of some of his works: Judas Iscariot from The Last Supper; Mona Lisa; and Isabella d’Este. Can Bennett successfully get inside the head of the legendary creative genius? He’s certainly doing his best to be equally prolific.
