Sinful Progeny:
Devil’s Daughter
The Devil’s Daughter (533 S. 500 West) is a new bar with more than just smoking going on—it also has Geeks Who Drink now. The popular pub-quiz franchise from Colorado recently landed in another Utah location at the former Club Orange, newly renovated, on Monday nights. Topics range from TV to movies, sports to the random, and alcohol just increases the fun. It definitely doesn’t hurt that smoking is a legitimate feature—and we aren’t talking cigarettes: Co-owner Kim Hansen’s rib and meat recipes are smoked with real apple wood in the bar’s kitchen.
Dave’s Dirty Thirty:
Willie Style
You may not know him by name—or you may know him by a pseudonym (Moose from Burt’s Tiki Lounge, for instance)—but he’s the guy making you mean Bloody Marys at Ex-Wife’s Place to cure your Sunday hangover. His name is Dave Nelson and his Dirty Thirty is almost upon us. Willie’s Lounge (1716 S. Main) is the place, and Nov. 4 is the date. Beer pong and Dave/Moose buying drinks is reason enough for coming down, but if you need more incentive, Club Matters’ Jon Paxton will be on hand, as well.
Drag Off: Jamming Open Call
The Open Drag Night on Friday Nov. 4, will be as much fun as it sounds—and what better place than Jam (751 N. 300 West) in Marmalade to throw it? It’s a drag contest, brought to you by The Gay Hot Spot, with an open roll call, and the best performance of the night wins a cash prize. Also, the voting is all done via audience texting, so bring your phone and your bra and boa. All participants must be registered by 9:15 p.m.
