The holiday season is warming up as the temperatures cool down. This winter, bank some karma by giving clean socks to help clothe the homeless in Utah. This weekend, you can also take part in a vegan Thanksgiving to raise funds for the Ching Farm Rescue & Sanctuary. If you’re still not ready for winter, you can look ahead to the spring and learn about the opportunity to develop a new community garden in Salt Lake City.

Socks for Souls
Through Nov. 21

The cold hits the economically down and out especially hard, and it’s particularly hard on the feet of Utah’s homeless. Help the have-nots stay warm this winter by donating to the socks drive put on by Journey Healing Centers, 97.1 ZHT and the Salt Lake City Rescue Mission. You can set up a donation drive at your work or drop off clean socks at the radio station to help out.
97.1 ZHT Studio, 2801 S. Decker Lake Drive, call 385-212-4160 to have donations picked up through Nov. 21. http://citywk.ly/HFQVHb

Ching Farm Vegan Thanksgiving
Saturday, Nov. 9

The Ching Farm Rescue & Sanctuary is a supporter of all critters great and small, and if you are, too, and would like to give thanks to the sanctuary, then swing by for its vegan Thanksgiving feast. For $30 at the door for adults and $15 for kids and seniors, you can help the sanctuary keep the barn doors open and eat all the tasty animal-products-free fixins and grub you could ask for. The meal will also include a talk from advocate Brude Friedrich of New York’s Farm Sanctuary.
