Cinco De Mayo Celebrations
Ted Dancin’ Cinco De Mayo:
The Urban Lounge
The Urban Lounge (241 S. 500 East) opens its doors at 9 p.m., but the music doesn’t start until 10. If you’ve got a problem with that, take it up with the Italian restaurant next door. That means the drinking begins at 9 for Cinco De Mayo, and the action will hit seismic proportions an hour later with Ted Dancin’. That’s right, the best DJ action in town is busting it up to celebrate whatever the hell the 5th of May is for Mexico (something to do with the Battle of Puebla, apparently).
Cinco De Drinko:
Mustache Party At Jackalope
Street tacos, tequila and dirty mustaches are all on hand at The Jackalope (372 S. State) for their Cinco de Drinko party on Thursday, May 5. Spell Talk and plenty of Mexican cerveza will be available for you to swill your holiday away.
Tuesday Night Out
DJ Brieskie: Oscar’s Twisted Tuesdays
DJ Brieskie is one of the best, and cutest, female DJs in the valley, and she’s been picking up steam lately as a resident DJ for Oscar’s (8136 S. State) on Twisted Tuesdays. It was packed when we went, and the dance floor was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night. The bar is known for its inexpensive drinks and good vibes. See for yourself any day of the week at one of Midvale’s best venues.
Poplar Pub: Poppin’ Tuesdays
If downtown calls on a Tuesday, you have several options. One of the better, more laid-back venues to find yourself is Poplar Pub (242 S. 200 West), and they have some cheap drink options: $3 Fireball Whiskey, and Sessions beer for $2.50. Poplar also has a nice food menu to check out.
