With one of the best titles for a lecture ever, Weber State University’s professor Richard Green brings his skeptical exploration of death and the undead, Chicken Soup for the Soulless: Three Philosophical Lessons from the World of the Undead, to Salt Lake Community College’s Grand Theatre.
The professor will use his knowledge of the interplay between philosophy and popular culture—Green has co-edited books on similar pop-topics, including Quentin Tarantino and Philosophy, The Undead and Philosophy and the upcoming Dexter and Philosophy—to delve into the human obsession and fear often associated with the dead, the undead and the dying. Green will dare to ask such questions as: Why is dying bad, why are we so scared of death and why are there such complex moral issues surrounding the dead?
Attendees are invited to stick around following the lecture for a free dress rehearsal of Sarah Ruhl’s upcoming production of the classic Eurydice.
