Cache Valley Celtic Festival & Highland Games

Heritage is a source of great pride for Utahns. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find a person born and raised in Utah who wouldn’t puff out their chest and tell you their family’s lineage, several generations back. Those with Scottish or Irish ancestry will get the chance to celebrate at their very own festival this weekend.

The first annual Cache Celtic Festival & Highland Games will feature musicians, entertainers, food and gift vendors, as well as traditional Highland throwing events and representatives from various clans proudly displaying their tartans. Regional groups will compete in bag piping and drumming contests, and both Irish and Highland dancing will be featured. Kelsey Crane, Utah’s own nationally renowned Highland dancing champion, is there every year. Lots of those little towns are celebrating their sesquicentennials this year, according to Utah Scottish Association Board member Bob Gallimore—so this year ought to put a little extra tilt in your kilt.

Cache Valley Celtic Festival & Highland Games @ American West Heritage Center, 4025 S. Hwy 89, Wellsville, Saturday, Aug. 29, 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
