Blues, Booze, Flicks and Divas
Burt’s Tiki Lounge (726 S. State)—home of Scotty’s Famous Pickled Eggs, the next big rock band and bartenders with names like Moose (aka Dave Nelson)—also hosts a weekly Sunday Night Karaoke Swilldown. Amateurs and professionals alike are invited to test their vocal skills on the stage where the likes of Mike Watt have held court. Karaoke starts … when they want it to. Also, be sure to catch JP’s Tuesdays featuring random movies on a large projection screen rig. Burt’s Blues Jam, hosted by Marinade, follows each screening.

Jamdance TwentyTen
DJ:K will provide the soundtrack to Jamdance, an exclusive event where guests will have the opportunity to be photographed on the red carpet by David Daniels.

The evening is being held in support of the film, 8: The Mormon Proposition. Comedian Eddie Safarty will also be performing at 10 p.m. at Club Jam (751 N. 300 West).

Oh Joy!
The corner club on 404 S. West Temple has held many names over the years (Vortex, Splash, The Bay—“Built to Party”) and retains old architecture from the former clubs (peep the outdoor pool bottom when you’re there next)—but its current name, Bliss, is the location’s best moniker so far. That’s the only word for the facial expression clubgoers wear while dancing to local DJs Dao, Sayo, Juggy and Super Mario. Patrons got even more blissed-out Jan. 13 with Los Angeles-based DJ Shortee.

P%uFFFDrely Gay
On Jan. 22, The Rail (235 N. 500 West) will host what is being billed as the gayest time to be had this festival season with P%uFFFDre. Co-hosted by Q Lounge Tuesdays and featuring DJ Brent Vincent, doors open at 9 p.m. with a $6 cover.
