SLC Mayor Becker Holding Special Pride Weekend Wedding Reception

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and his beautiful red vest made history on Dec. 20, 2013 by officiating almost three dozen same-sex weddings. Now the Mayor is hoping to hold a special reception for those same newlyweds at this weekend's Salt Lake City Pride Festival.---
For a brief window in Utah history the state's prohibition against same-sex marriage was overturned thanks to a ruling by U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby. In the immediate aftermath of that decision thousands of same-sex Utah couples tied the knot. As many as three dozen couples had Mayor Becker officiate their nuptials and now Becker is reaching out to those couples to join him for a special wedding reception on Sunday, June 8.
The Mayor's Office has been able to track down some of the newlyweds but not all. If you happened to be one of the couple's joined as man and man or woman and woman by Mayor Becker then you're encouraged to contact the office to get more details and an official invitation to the June 8 reception.
