Basic Rights Are No Threat
Passing a law that would protect people who are gay or transgender from being fired from their job or kicked out of their house does not equate to marriage. Utah has a constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex marriage. The Utah courts can never throw out that amendment. They do not have the power. Only the people and the Legislature do. HB267 cannot be applied to the slippery slope argument to gay marriage because marriage is protected by the Constitution.
No one should be fired or lose their house just because they are gay or transgendered. toDD HESS Sandy
